When reporting a problem, it helps enormously to include your iPhone model, your iOS version, the app version (Settings → AI & Team, at the bottom), and what you were doing when it went wrong. If it involves a specific track, say which one.

Getting started

How do I get a GPX into the app?

Any of these work: share it to Pakmandidos from Files, Mail or AirDrop; open a GPX attachment and choose Pakmandidos; or drop files into the app's folder in the Files app. A multi-section pack imports as separate sections, so a whole country arrives in one go. There is no conversion step.

Which way round will it ride?

Sections follow the direction stored in the file. One tap reverses a section — distances and turn cues recompute for the new direction.

What is the difference between the matched route and the raw line?

Downloaded tracks often sit slightly beside the real road or trail. Before you ride, the app matches your track to the real network so turn cues line up with actual corners. Where nothing is mapped underneath — open ground, a faint path — it falls back to the raw line you imported.

Offline

How do I make a section work with no signal?

Open the section and tap Download offline map while you still have wifi. This caches a corridor around your route. Do the same for the waypoints and hazards you want available offline — that all happens during preparation, not on the trail.

The map went blank

You have probably ridden outside the downloaded corridor. Inside it the map is fully offline; outside it the app streams from the network again, so with no signal there is nothing to draw. Your position, the line and the way back are still drawn either way.

The buddy and waypoints

Why is a waypoint silent, or missing a description?

Waypoint write-ups are produced during preparation and need an OpenAI API key plus a connection at that moment. If a waypoint has no note, it either was not researched before you left or the source had nothing useful to say about it.

Do I have to add an OpenAI key?

No. Everything essential works without one: the map, the line, turn cues, distances, hazard reports and the built-in voice. A key adds the natural-sounding voice, the researched waypoint write-ups and your collection card artwork. You supply your own key, you are billed by OpenAI directly, and the key is stored in your iPhone's Keychain — see the Privacy Policy.

The buddy is too talkative, or too quiet

Mute is one tap on the ride screen. Voice options live in Settings → AI & Team.

Riding with others

How do teams work?

Share a team code with your crew and everyone entering it joins the same team — pooled points, a shared leaderboard, and optionally seeing each other on the map.

Can other people see where I am?

Only if you switch presence on, and only people who have your team code. It is off by default. Turn it off and your position record is deleted. Treat a team code like a password. There is no public map of riders. The details are in §7 of the Privacy Policy.

Hazards and scoring

A hazard report is wrong or out of date

Tap it and mark it cleared. Reports rot without riders maintaining them, so confirming and clearing is the most useful thing you can do for the people behind you.

Why did I get no points for a fast section?

Speed earns nothing and costs nothing. Points come from staying on the line, from stopping at waypoints, and from reporting hazards.

Privacy and data

How do I delete my data?

Deleting the app removes everything held on the device — tracks, offline packs, ride log, cards and your API key. For shared data (hazard reports, leaderboard entries, presence), email me with your rider handle and I will remove it.

Keeping it running

Pakmandidos is free, and there is no advertising in it and never will be. Hosting the offline map packs and the servers behind hazard reports costs a little every month, and I pay for it out of pocket.

If the app saved your day out there and you feel like covering a coffee's worth of it, you can — entirely optional, and it unlocks nothing.

Chip in via PayPal — thank you. It genuinely helps.

Still stuck?
